New TT Visa application.

KKK36

Hi,

Hoping someone has been through this process recently.

Background:  The process of getting married to my Viet fiance will hopefully complete soon. I am semi retired. We live in Saigon. Currently here on a 3 month E-Visa.

We will likely move back to Australia in a year or two but will be living here until the necessary visas are obtained. . I want to avoid the need for 3 monthly and 6 monthly border runs.. Hence, I am thinking a VEC is not the best path for us. (But haven't totally ruled it out) The TT spouse visa for 12 months then if necessary, a VEC or TRC after that seems the best choice. I also don't really want to change my Australian residency status for a number of reasons and I believe a TRC might do that?

It seems I need a form NA5, notarised copy of marriage certificate, perhaps a local police report showing residency registration. and my passport?   Then hopefully a 12 month TT visa would be on offer?

Comments or ideas appreciated.

Thanks.

Depending what exactly you want and where did you get married.  While you are not interested to find a job in Vietnam maybe a VEC could be the best choice for you, faster and cheap.

You can also ask for TT Visa, going to the Migration Police where you spouse is registered. The procedure is also quite easy.

Regarding to ask for a TRC-TT, keep in mind the rule:  "Expats who wants to keep a residence in Vietnam" and surely you will be asked to justify your request.  But, whatever:  TT Visa is previous to TRC-TT, thus you can ask all your question to the migration police during that first step.

For either TT visa or VEC, do you need to exit the country to get these activated if already here on an e-visa?

Also, Moc Bai border run now needs an overnight stay?  Not just a walk through and return?

Thanks

aplying an exchange of Visa type is inside the country. They will put the new Visa in your passport and stamp the "used" mark on the previous one . Normally the department will keep your passport during their paperwork, about 15 days
