Currently, It's almost impossible for an Iranian citizen to get a regular tourist visa approved.

You need to apply through a legitimate Visa agency and you may be able to get a 4-week limited Visa on arrival.

Sorry but I never understand this bilateral standards! and they never respond properly why!?

They are apparently refusing illegally by never responding! currently Iran is visa free for Vietnamese citizens!๐Ÿ˜

And basically andย  historically, we never had any issue or conflict with that country! when i go through the over 2000 year history by evidence!๐Ÿ˜‘

It looks a new type of discrimination and racism! really fed-up๐Ÿ˜‘

I was at VN embassy last week for legalization and spending much money except considerable time and its bureaucracy, but they never mentioned any restrictions to impose!

No, it is not the norm. In fact, reports are that VN Immigration has been quite consistent in approving tourist eVisa applications in their stated 3 day turnaround.

Tell us, please, the website you used to submit your application.

Have you received any requests from immigration to amend your application? If so, please let us know the wording used, and the number of times they requested additional information/amendments/corrections.

@Aidan in HCMC

After 3 days they just left a crazy comments on my personal photo %89 similarity shall be updated, and then I updated.

Now after 1 week they are still silent ๐Ÿซ !

During the last 3 weeks ago I've been to VN embassy over 3 times!

I've just spent much money for legalization additionally considerable time and expenses for ministries approval!

@Aidan

Is it possible to follow it up through the VN embassy in person?

It looks a new type of discrimination and racism! really fed-up๐Ÿ˜‘

Reportedly (info from longtime visa agency contacts) the two main considerations are for citizens from countries experiencing political and/or economic distress.

Vietnam supports Iran in general and racism is not a factor in their decisions.

The government appears to be avoiding any tourists from anywhere in the world who are likely to turn into refugees once they arrive here and are unwilling or unable to exit the country at the end of their visa term.

Unfortunately, no.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) doesn't get involved in the decision making process for standard tourist visas.

At best you will be referred to a Visa agency whose job it will be to submit a detailed application on your behalf, with the likely end result being the aforementioned visa on arrival, normally limited to a maximum of 4 weeks validity.

The main agency in Vietnam that is considered trustworthy by both MOFA and Immigration is:

It doesn't make sense by evidence!

First of all, Vietnam originally never been as immigrant country so far! therefore a refugee preferably choose an immigrant countries such as Canada, Germany, England or other European countries which strongly support refugee and have transparent and clear laws in this case not Vietnam!

Second governments sometimes unfortunately make some mistakes!

Similarly in Cambodia, over 40% of GDP of this country obtained from scam and so on you probably know!

Cambodian government officially reported, so many nationalities(you may guess which nationalities I mean!๐Ÿ˜‰ Please look a the following link) are involved in the scam especially in Asia, the majority of Asian countries except Iran and a other couple countries!

This fresh and latest report properly indicate that we shouldn't judge in advance based on initial or maybe unproven assumption!

Based on all these proven information I said, that behavior smells of discrimination or racism!

If you have any evidence to prove I will be pleased and sincerely appreciated to be informed.

Good luck Sir.๐Ÿ˜Š

@OceanBeach92107

Anyway I just access the Vietnamese embassy to complaint! ifย  they are not supposed to give any services why they take money once they know my nationalities in advance๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜‘! we didn't find cash on the road to donate for charity! yes!?

What member OceanBeach92107ย  had posted is fact.

The reason I asked about whether you had received requests from immigration to amend your application is because we on the forum have seen this many, many times before. I can most assuredly state that the "enhanced scrutiny" your application is receiving is not due to your ethnicity. There were two Mediterranean nations whose citizens, until very recently, were finding it extremely difficult to receive eVisa approval. This issue has now been resolved, and members report no longer experiencing consecutive requests for ammendments/corrections. This is most certainly due to a shifting (improving?) political climate.

I had written on another thread...

'It is now apparent to us that citizens of some regions/countries, including but not limited to Africa (most notably Nigeria), Pakistan, Bangladesh, as well as others, are experiencing difficulty in receiving their eVisa approvals.

We will continue to try to help applicants from every country successfully complete their eVisa applications. However, continued denials/amendment-requests from immigration will suggest to us that the applicant has encountered an impediment to their receiving an eVisa approval. At that point our options/advice to the applicant will have been exhausted. Members are encouraged to continue with their own efforts to receive approval (time permitting), but the reality might be that it will result only in effort wasted.

It may well be in the best interest of people from these regions/countries to consider employing the services of a proven, reliable and trustworthy Vietnam visa agent. Please see posts #319 and #320, here, for a member's account of his experience in using such an agent.

If you'd like to pursue this avenue, please let us know.' (Link to post #485)

In the same thread...

'I called that agency today and spoke to one of the representatives there. She confirmed their unwillingness to submit applications on behalf of citizens of Pakistan, Bangladesh, most African nations, "some" nations in the Middle East (though she wouldn't identify which ones), "some" South America nations (again, without identifying which nations), and "others". I tried to get a comprehensive list of the countries where applicants are receiving enhanced scrutiny but she either wouldn't or couldn't give me this. I didn't feel comfortable pushing the matter. She did confirm with me the countries/regions I've mentioned.' (Link, continued, post #501)

From an Iranian compatriot of yours, please see post #665 in the same thread.

A VOA (visa-on-arrival) is an option, but it has a validity of less than 30 days. (Link to post #753)

I could have provided you with numerous other examples of foreign nationals experiencing the same issue which you are experiencing. Unfortunately, changes to the forum's "Activity/History" index makes it exceedingly difficult to search/find prior related posts. It took me, in fact, well over 30 minutes to compose this reply to you.

There are well over 700 posts in that specific thread. Feel free to browse through it, starting here.

You can skim over posts not specific to your issue. It won't take you long to understand the issue.

I kindly request that the Admin pin my post until we reach a reasonable solution, if possible, since thousands of people traveling to Vietnam now and in the future may encounter the same issue.

So many travelers spend significant time, money and effort and additionally they have to deal with unnecessary stress.

Finally, I believe that we are all human beings and deserve to be treated equally, regardless of our nationality.

It wouldย  be sincerely appreciated in advance!

The embassy did not accept any monies from you. As stated by OceanBeach92107, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs plays no part in a tourist eVisa application. Don't waste any more of your time/energy visiting them.

Prior to your paying, you consented to the terms and conditions of your application, i.e. the payment is non-refundable.

Is that fair? No.

Is it something you must now deal with? Unfortunately, yes.

You didn't mention "..and in the past". ๐Ÿ˜‰

Understood, and agree. And that, my friend, is precisely why expat.com exists. The friendly members here do their best to help fellow expats, tourists, travellers as best we can.

See member OceabBeach92107's post, #8, above. They are a reliable agency who have earned the trust of numerous expat.com members. They have a helpline which you can call for advice or guidance.

It's my understanding that if you enter Vietnam under a tourist visa, and are subsequently issued a work visa, you will have to leave Vietnam and reenter with the work visa in order to activate it. I might be wrong about this, as it has been years since I worked for an employer here. If I'm wrong, I'd be happy to be corrected.

Here's a thread you might be interested in reading. Change tourist visa to work visa in Vietnam

@giscivil92

Be careful. There are countless reports of people coming to VN with promises from the employer to secure for the foreigner a Work Visa. A promise which sometimes is not kept. Be wary of this. It is a real concern.
