Hi there. A search for "Restaurants in Bavet, Cambodia" (Link) shows quite a few restaurants nearby. It's been years since I visited Bavet, so I can't give you any specific recommendations. I remember there being a couple of casinos with restaurants close to the Cambodia/Vietnam border.

Fortunately, Bavet is situated on the border so it's just a short jaunt to get into the centre of town. You'll want to hit an ATM upon arrival, as you'll need Cambodian riel to use while there (VND isn't accepted by local businesses). The casinos will covert VND to CAM Riel, but at a scandalously poor exchange rate. I suggest you familiarise yourself with the VND to CAM Riel, or USD to CAM Riel exchange rate prior to your arrival there. This will help you avoid withdrawing too many riel from the ATM and be stuck carrying them back to VN with you.

(Moc Bai is in Vietnam, with Bavet being in Cambodia)

Not to counter your observation about the use of VND there but I used VND at a coffee shop.

Though that was some very pricey coffee.  I think some of the little shops that sell all that chinese stuff also took VND.

Hopefully you've been here in Southeast Asia long enough to realize that one man's very pricey coffee is another man's scandalously high exchange rate...

I have done that visa run to that location twice now. The first time I waited ~3 hours. The second time I waited 2 hours and 20 minutes and paying close attention, too.

Between drinking coffee, chatting with fellow travelers, and reading my book (on a tablet), I passed the time easily and comfortably.

But then, that's just me.
