You need about $115,000 USD to invest and get a 3-year temporary resident card TRC.

Otherwise there is absolutely no retirement visa in Vietnam. You will be limited to 90-day tourist visas which cannot be renewed in country and Also can't be applied for within Vietnam.

So you will be required to physically leave Vietnam every 90 days, a process which can take a week  or more in order for you to apply for your new visa outside the country, have it approved and then re-enter the country.

You can pay a visa agent for assistance and trim that process down to between 2 to 4 hours outside the country when your visa is then approved and you are allowed to reenter.

Please keep in mind that these are just the current visa restrictions. Visa laws in Vietnam are updated quite often, so there might be further restrictions added in the future.

Just to reiterate, there is no retirement visa here but there are investment visas.

You can also start your own business here and qualify For a 1-year renewable business visa if your minimum capital contribution is approximately $22,785 USD, but then you will need to meet the legal requirements of registration and licensing and mandatory accounting fees and attorney fees which can easily run you close to $2000 USD.

Also a virtual business does not qualify. You must have a dedicated brick and mortar storefront for your business, and you will have the additional expenses of furnishing and fixing up your business space depending upon how successful you want to be.

But did I mention that there are no retirement visas in Vietnam?
