Getting around with your pet in Thailand

I don’t feel like Thailand is very pet friendly at all. Most Hotels don’t allow them, restaurants don’t allow them very often even if they have outside seating.  Transportation is a Big NO, and Condo's are just starting to be a little open to small dogs. We brought are small dog from the US and we had to sneak him in and out of our condo and the same with Hotels, forget about restaurants and traveling in Thailand.       

Anyone with experience with cats?  When I finally pry my wife out of the US (almost certainly not for my upcoming scouting trip..), we will be accompanied by our 100% indoors "kitty" (almost 30 lbs.)  Fully vaccinated, checked by vet overnight before departure, etc.

No issue with needing to walk, bring to restaurants, etc.  So, concern is with apartment lease.. 

By my estimate only 3 to 5 percent of condo alow pets, cats or dogs.

If you get caught they cam fine you and possibly terminate your lease or even ownership of said condo as you are breaking the lease or condo contact.

I live in one of the condo developments that alow pets and here the pets can not walk in most areas they have to have a baby stroller or be carried in these area or be find and they manage company and security love giving out the fines. 

First 3 years we have our dog we didnt have a car.

So we use piggy car and Taxi with no problems and no ekstra pay for bringing a dog.

When we got our car, I learn.

That many attraction in Thailand allow us to bring our dog and walk around.

Temples no problem.

I learn that so many place we go and stay for Holidays, Pet up to 15 kg is allow.

As up to 15 kg is small dog for Thai, i learn.

We take our dog with us 1-2 times per year and stay somewhere.

Guesthouse, small house, small Thai house, Campingvan & bungalows.

Restaurant all over is very open for dog.

Open air and Air Con, We never have problem finding a place anywhere we go.

Wife call and ask, Or look online at find a place in a few minutters

There is all so Restaurant that build for bring dog.

Where there is a large fence area, and tables around it.

Put in our dog and he can play and have fun with other dogs.

We eat and can keep a eye on him.

Restaurant with area outside with train dog that can play with your dog.

So campair to my country, Thailand is very open for bringing dog(s).

There are pet friendly places around now, shopping centers that are especially open to that, or even hotels that are.  We have four cats right now but they don't travel with us, or go to malls.  I get it about people treating their small dogs or cats like their kids, and wanting to take them places, but our cats are fine at home, and we have enclosed yard space at our house so they're not just stuck inside.

I don't think it would work to take them on the trains and such.  You would probably need to find pet friendly taxi options, which probably isn't that bad, but you would probably need to manage it through an app.  Finding parks that let dogs run off a leash might also be problematic; you don't tend to see much of that.  Even if that did turn up as an option they could end up interacting with "soi dogs" in negative ways.  It's probably not ideal to have larger dogs in Bangkok.
