Personal effects to Surin Province Thailand

danielboonjp

I have posted previously and received good advice re bringing a car over; however, I am specifically after tips on bringing stuff over, nothing illegal ... more like specific *sized boxes and the like ... I appreciate there is a crossover point of bringing stuff over versus buying it new in Thailand.  *[ weight restrictions like flying]

As one might understand, the value of say - king sized sheets - is worthless in selling (here in OZ), but decidedly expensive in buying new (especially cotton) . Some tools too

Hello danielboonjp,,

Hopefully, this thread will be as successful as the previous one, and you can get all the information you need on bringing personal effects.

It to me depends where and from who you are buying king sized sheets from here in Pattaya.  You can get 100% cotton sheets king size from mall stores or other large stores.  Their prices are very high.

So I do not shop intemperate to get my king sized 100% cotton sheets I buy from a hotel supplier and a very much lower price. They do have white sheets of different sizes and some one color sheets that are various sizes that are 100% cotton.  You my not get the highest thread count available in your native country but they are very good to me above the normal middle class type.

They will sale to you if you are just buying a few and if you are looking fir a greater number they can adjust the price.

So it's to me not worth importing this here in Thailand you just need to shop differently if you only want to go to mall department stores ok import or pay there high prices if not do your buying differently and find and buy the same grade and quality at a different type of store.

This is what I have done. To me the price difference is a lot and I like what I get. And yes my king sized sheets are 100% cotton and white.

It's your choice on where to buy the most easily and convenient way at the highest price or search out the hotel supplier that you can find in Google and Google maps its really not that had and the stores my be done a small street off a main street like the one I buy from is.

Daniel, having just been through this I'd urge against it based on my experiences. I sent three boxes of household items from Australia by courier company last year and it was a disaster. No matter how I tried, the Thai Customs people would not accept that the goods were second-hand and not intended for re-sale. In the end I had to pay huge import duties....simply not worth it!  The courier company, who shall remain nameless, did not help one bit. Lesson learned for me. Buy here.
