Malaysian Chinese in Taiwan

Springbee

I have over the years heard of and in many instances came across Malaysian Chinese that have studied in Taiwan and later established themselves well professionally, married to Taiwanese in most cases, and yet refused to take on Taiwanese Citizenships and passport. What was more applauding was that in some cases, Malaysian father residing and making a comfortable living in Taiwan would have had their Taiwanese wife gave birth to their kids in Malaysia not wanting them to take on Taiwanese Citizenship or passport (maybe eventually sending them to the other western countries?) but having Taiwanese dollars to fund their lifestyle and dreams.

Now, these incidents are not just remote but between my personal experience, friends, and relatives in Taiwan, this has been somewhat a common practice and culturally beliefs of Malaysian. Hence, my question to these specific Malaysian expat or immigrants – why did you come to Taiwan to settle on our Motherland in the first place when you show no loyalty to the same land that provides you the economic gain and luxury? Perhaps, it was the same attitude that drives you away from your home country that provides you the passport that you so loved. If you left Malaysia due to discriminatory politics, then why not renounce your Malaysian citizenship and commit total loyalty to Taiwan (or any country that you resides) by taking on the Citizenship? Isn't it that the Orient Motherland that you’re seeking comfort and protection?

I hope someone in this poster can explain to me coz’ selfish economic reason and wanting the best of both worlds just translate to S.E. Asian “Kia-suism” (as the Singaporean called it) at its worst. They seem to have this constant fear of not able to travel globally with a Taiwanese passport when Taiwan is where they make land fall.

It truly chilled us down to the bone to see such treason and bandit behavior of these migrants when Taiwan provides them the economic comfort and probably their personal safety (i.e. ethnic Chinese). We’ve heard of some similar incidents of such behavior from certain Indonesian Chinese residing in Taiwan too (Truly a S.E. Asia phenomenon!). It kills us to see how Taiwan is being abused in such fashion by the same people that she harbors.

I really wanted the world to hear about it and will be happy to debate over this. I could be missing something major here.

Maybe, becoz..other family member & relatives & also parents, still living in Msia, so refuse to get Taiwanese Citizhenship.

Totally understands that. It’s not like once you take on Taiwanese citizenship, one can’t visit their families in their country of origin.

Look, these people want to stay in Taiwan, make Taiwanese dimes and a great career but constantly thinking of returning to Malaysia if Taiwan goes down, and/or waiting to send their kids to other western countries, while they continue enjoying everything Taiwanese tax payer are offering. If Taiwan goes to war with China, where do you think they will be? You can say the same for Taiwanese but hey… they are Taiwanese!
