The UK state pension will increase by 4.8% in April '26 but the country has higher inflation than the US. However for UK expats in the Philippines that represents a 'real' 2% increase given the countries lower price increases notwithstanding the strengthening £ against the Peso.

The UK state pension will increase by 4.8% in April 2026, a rise determined by the triple lock guarantee as average earnings growth was higher than inflation and 2.5%. This will increase the full new state pension to £241.30 per week, or approximately £12,547 a year. The full basic state pension will increase to £184.90 per week.

This increase will be an average of $56 per month for beneficiaries, raising the average monthly benefit to $2,071. The adjustment is based on inflation data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics and was delayed due to the government shutdown.

Indeed. For those UK expats surviving on the new state pension only the bad news is that the income thresholds have been frozen until 2028 ( at least) . The current personal tax free income allowance is £12,750 meaning that you are £203 away from being taxed at 20%

Death taxes and now a new term has entered the lexicon at least in the UK : Fiscal Drag  ;(

Yes, however the cost of Medicare is also going up by about $22/mo, which will take a bite out of that increase for those of us who maintain Medicare coverage.
