Skytrax Airline awards 2026

The 2026 top 100 airline rankings have just been released by the London based Skytrax annual passenger aviation world review.

7 of the top 10 airlines are based in Asia. Singapore Airlines retakes the top spot pushing Qatar Airways into 2nd place.

One of the most exciting new carriers on the block, Starlux Airlines has moved up 5 places from 18 to 13 continuing its meteoric rise since its launch in 2020. No airline has achieved such a high ranking in such a short space of time. Starlux has daily flights between Manila and its homebase Taipei in Taiwan. For our American friends the airline flies to 4 western USA cities namely Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle and Phoenix.

It should be noted that Starlux now have a code share arrangement with Etihad Airways to a handful of European destinations via Abu Dhabi.

Tellingly only one US airline appears in the top 50 namely United Airlines at 45. Needless to say Philippine Airlines never made it into the top 100. No surprise there.

Thanks for this information.  I wasn't familiar with Starlux and my U.S. destination is Phoenix.  I will keep this in mind.

I will by flying both Qatar and Singapore Airlines in November. Manchester to Phnom Penh and returning Manila to Manchester with Qatar Airlines. Phnom Penh to Cebu (single) with Singapore Airlines with a 12 hour layover in Singapore. I have also booked a one way flight with Cebu pacific as part of the return leg from Cebu to Manila with one night in the Belmont hotel before the onward flights back home.

You certainly know how to pic 'em CA. Your airline selection is good too..

The Belmont is an excellent Choice CA. Accessed via the best kept secret 'Runway Manila' at the side of T3. I shall be using the hotel for one night myself before flying down to Iloilo the next day. No need for taxis. No queues either to get into the terminal.

Thank you very much for the recommendation, I did want  to be within walking distance from the Terminal to avoid the rip off Taxis and to enjoy the wonderful facilities. I am not bothered about venturing into the city for my last night in the country, just want to relax, have a good meal, freshen up and get a good night's sleep before my flight home.

Like you know - My original plan was just to use Qatar Airlines for the whole journey and take advantage of their outstanding  stopover deal for a couple of nights. The ongoing war in the region impacted my decision, especially when considering travel insurance and the complications a stopover in Doha may have on any claim I may need to make should there be an issue.
