Need a Blood Donor

Braat7

I'm living in Angeles City.  I have a pretty extensive spinal surgery in Medical City Clark coming up.  Problem: I'm A negative blood type...and it turns out that is pretty rare in the Philippines.  Almost all of the country is either A or O positive.  Most of the A negative owners are ex-pats.  So...my surgery is on hold pending the efforts of the Red Cross and other blood banks.  I thought I'd shoot a message to the ex-pat community and see if anyone wants to help me out.  I'll happily cover expenses like travel.  If you are interested, call or text me at 253*** (that's a US number...I kept my T-mobile account when i moved here) or wife at 0966**** or drop me an email at ***

I wish you all the best and see that you have also posted this message on the Philippines Ex Pat Public Group on Facebook. If you scroll down to a post dated 19 December 2024 on the Facebook Group you will see somebody else was looking for somebody to donate B positive blood. One guy who replied said that he is O negative and was planning to donate blood at St Lukes, BGC. I believe that people with O negative blood can donate to pretty much anybody including people with blood type A negative so maybe he could be interested in helping you out. I do not think it is appropriate for me to name the guy here but I am sure you can find the post easily.

@Braat7

I am O-neg, but I don't think that anyone over 60 is allowed to donate. Correct me if I am wrong.

I Googled it and it said up to 65 in the Philippines. Here in the UK I believe you can give blood up to the age of 72 if you have given blood in the last 2 years. Maybe the same applies in the Philippines although I could not find anything to say that but surely the Red Cross and Medical Surgeons can tell you the upper age limit.
