'Clocking' or turning the mileage back is said to be extremely common in Malaysia, so watch out for that. Scrut.my will give you a car history report (never used them), but I don't know if that covers mileage.

In 2008 I bought a new Nissan X-trail from a Nissan dealer in Kuala Lumpur. The price new was about MYR146k but paid MYR91k with MM2H tax-free plus some further discounts from Nissan. After 7 years I sold it for about MYR65k which was cheap, to a friend who bought cars from expats departing Malaysia. After he bought it he let me borrow another car for a week at no charge. His name was Peter and we lived in Bangsar. FYI, different Nissan dealers offered different discounts and deals. Probably other brands are the same. The branch I visited was quite a bit out of town and were recommended to me. Also, my insurance agent for health insurance also did car insurance for me and did my road tax each year.
