What do you do in Indonesia? How are you dealing with living?

I guess many Expats face problems outside of their own countries. Some though do pretty well. What about you?
As far as me I work online as a translator. Since I lived 12 years in the USA I started giving private classes for English in Jakarta, in the area of Kelapa Gading. Also I give classes of Brazilian Portuguese. And I was impressed that my first student was exactly looking for Portuguese classes.... hehe

Hi rogerluis!

What about your own experiences?

Regards
Armand
Hi Armand,

I think that one of the things we face at first is the cultural shock... Language, eating habits, costumes. Afterwards comes missing your regular habits... For me started like that.
hey rogerluis, where are you staying in kelapa gading? im here in kelapa gading too. near sports mall.

how long have you been staying here in jakarta? im here for only 3 months. i'm from manila, Ph.
Hey Phil,

I am here since January 2011.
I am in the Boulevard, Close to WGP.
More or less a km South of Mall Kelapa Gading.
I like Michel telo, ai se eu te pego is his song and whether the song is in Portuguese language?

Since I heard this song, I want to learn the language, not because of Michel Telo LOL
But I only know two simply words, like "feliz dia dos' and "como vai"

Correct me if am wrong
Hi Someonelike,

Yes it is correct. Only it is missing what is the Feliz dia dos about... hehe... pais? namorados?

If you are serious about Portuguese and want to learn I am a private teacher.
I went to Bali last month and I was having dinner in Jimbaran. There was a group of musicians playing to entertain the people eating. When I asked them to play a Brazilian song that is exactly what they played... Michel Teló... hehe... I have the vídeo recorded...
hahaha I have no idea
Since I don't have the namorados, maybe I choose pals
Actually not pals, but pais (Father's Day) Feliz dia dos pais.
I wish he has a concert here, either Bali or Jakarta, wherever
Prefer in Bali i guess LOL
Like his concert when he sang in English version, If I Catch You

Nossa, nossa Assim você me mata, Ai se eu te pego, ai ai se eu te pego
Now I know
Thank you
