I recently completed the full process of buying and activating a local Magti eSIM before arriving in Georgia, and it worked perfectly.
Here’s a clear step-by-step guide so other travelers can do it easily too.
Step 1 – Download the MagTi app
Search “MagTi” (by Magticom) in the App Store or Google Play and install it.
Step 2 – Open the app and go to Order
Tap “Purchase a Number.”
Set both minimum and maximum prices to 0 and tap Check.
A list of free numbers will appear — choose one.
Step 3 – Scan your travel document and confirm your face
After selecting your number, the app will ask to scan your passport or ID and perform facial recognition.
It may take a few tries to recognize your face.
After that, the app generates a contract for you to sign.
Scroll to the bottom, sign it, and confirm.
Be careful: sometimes the app reads your name incorrectly from the passport scan.
If that happens, go back, rescan the document, and repeat until your name appears correctly.
Step 4 – Ignore the login glitch
After signing, the app might return to a login screen in Georgian.
Just press “Back” and go to Home — your new phone number should already appear there.
Step 5 – Convert your SIM to an eSIM
Go again to Order → SIM Card Change → Replace the SIM Card with an eSIM.
Confirm your number and fill in the CAPTCHA.
Step 6 – Make a small purchase to register the eSIM
At this stage, the app will request a small payment (about ten lari).
I used an international multi-currency debit card, and the payment worked perfectly.
Step 7 – Activate and install the eSIM
After payment, the app will generate a QR code.
On your phone, go to Settings → Network / Connections → Add Mobile Plan and scan the code.
The eSIM installs instantly and appears under your mobile network settings.
Step 8 – Email confirmation
You’ll be asked to confirm your email with a short 4-digit code sent to your inbox.
Enter it back in the app, and your account becomes active.
Step 9 – Buy a data plan
In the Home → Offers section, scroll sideways to see different plans like “Unlimited Internet Week” and “Unlimited Internet Month.”
When I did this on October 9, 2025, the weekly unlimited plan cost about ten lari, and the monthly unlimited plan cost about thirty-five lari.
Since I’ll be in the country for only five days, I decided to activate the weekly plan right before my flight so it stays valid during my trip.
This entire process can be done online, without visiting any Magti store.
Everything — from ID verification to signing and activation — can be completed through the app.
Hope this helps other travelers who want local internet in Georgia without paying for expensive tourist SIM cards.
