Relocating as digtal freelancer - which permits in what order?

newfoundationz

Hello together smile.png

i gonna relocate to tanzania and did quiet a bit of research already.

To my backround: Iam an freelancer and i work for different europe companys remotly via computer on a contract base.

So i already know, that i should get the work permit first and then apply for the residence permit.

But what work permit should i go for? I mean permit a states for freelancers "which invests" but i dont have much funds to invest ^^.

For the permit types b and c i dont have an local company in tanzania, which writes me an letter/sponsor me (i dont need any neither, because iam working for foreign companys).

So which way i should go? I mean theoreticly iam also an kindergarden teacher (certified) and give remote online-computer-courses for basic understanding of microsoft office. Maybe that would qualify me for the type b-permit? I dont now.

Hope, anyone could shed some light here.

Hello and welcome !

You are right, for freelancers working remotely for foreign companies, the situation is not always straightforward, so it’s important to get official clarification.

I would suggest you contact immigration services : https://visa.immigration.go.tz/guidelines

or find some help from our immigration services partner : Tanzania Immigration Procedure Assistance

Maybe you found a solution already but if I were you, I’d take a permit for an ngo which is $ 500 for 2 years. Don’t tell the immigration or other officials but you may work online here for foreign companies as long as tax is paid abroad.

If you need help - for instance to find an ngo - please let me know
