hi

well once ur husband has got a work permit i think u need not buy a round ticket u can come n stay wid him as long as he is here on work permit,..just one doubt if has a wok permit or occupational permit? if occupational permit den its easier for you to get resident permit.. in case of work permit u wil have to get a resident permit as dependent but even dis is not a problem as such.. so just ask your husband to do the needful for your paper work before you arrive.. i m assuming that u r stil not in mauritius and ur husband is already here having work/occupational permit

cheers

welcome to mauriitus

Dear Maggie

Welcome to Mauritius

For sure, you are authorized to stay as dependent in Mauritius. Still, you should make an application for a Residence Permit on the form “Application to enter Mauritius” and submitted along with the following documents:-

    Copy of marriage certificate
    Copy of your passport – Personal data plus visa pages.
    Copy of birth certificate
    Four recent passport sized photographs.
    A medical certificate issued by a doctor in Mauritius
    A Bank Guarantee of Rs 20,000/- is payable

I would advise that you purchase a return ticket in that this avoids getting awful surprise when processing the trip.  You can then arrange for a partial refund, which, by the way, is very minimal.

Cheers:)

Dear Vayid,

Thank you very much for your reply.

Just want to confirm:

1/  Copy of marriage certificate
    Copy of your passport – Personal data plus visa pages.
    Copy of birth certificate

Do I need to bring the original marriage certificate with me ?

2/ My parentw may want to come and visit us, can they extend their visa for half a year or even longer? if they can, what kind of documentation they need to bring ? thanks

Hi Maggie J,
When you submit your file for a resident permit, you should submit the original of all documents along with a photocopy of each document (copy which they will keep; the originals will be given back immediately).
The tourist visa received at the airport can be extended till a maximum of 6 months simply by going to Sterling house and requesting an extension although you then need to have a new airticket reservation.
Cheers

Dear Maggie

Arlette gave you the perfect information. I understand that your parents are originally from CANADA, and they might find the change radical. Hope they’ll enjoy it for six months.

P.S: By the WAY Arlette, I preferred your original photo rather than this new icon. Hope you do not mind my boldness.

Cheers
