Hi - as most houses are rented furnished in Mauritius, I'm leaving a lot of things behind coming from Belgium. I am curious whether any of you have found that there are any items you wish you'd brought that you miss in Mauritius?

On our last visit to Mauritius for example, we found that it's quite hard to find a decent slow juicer on the island... we ended up buying a really expensive one that turned out to be absolutely terrible. So we're definitely bringing ours over!

I wish I had brought EVERYTHING lol. It is sometimes difficult to find certain brands & quality things here. Anything imported here is also more expensive & sometimes about double the price. Eg, my Iphone in Australia is about half the price it is in Mauritius. My uncle ended up sending 1 for me via a friend who came to Mauritius. Even if you can get them online, postage or delivery can be really expensive. Also, some general items I have bought here are what we call 'seconds' in Australia - ie, they have some kind of fault. Quality electrical appliances are hard to find & also more expensive - so I suggest you bring all your gadgets. I am so glad I brought all my fancy kitchen appliances, natural cookware & other appliances with me, eg, Ice cream maker, food processors, fridge/freezer. If you are bringing things in a container you usually pay for the whole container anyway - so fill it up. What I did as I was packing was to consider 'Can I live without this EXACT item?' Also, you can find unfurnished homes to rent here - I rented my unit unfurnished.
