Where to source seeds?

Peter Mugane

Hi all,

I'm trying to find a bunch of different seeds (non-irradiated) to grow in my garden - shishito peppers, jalapenos, hatch chiles, Szegedi and Kalocsai red peppers, peppercorns, chaya (tree spinach), warrigal, brazilian spinach, Egyptian walking onions, and a long list of others.

Where do people get these in Nairobi? Is there some kind of forum for it? Or a store somewhere?

Thanks!

Hello Peter,

Welcome to Expat.com 😀

Your thread has been moved to the Nairobi forum.

Hopefully, someone can point you in the right direction to get what you need.

As you mentioned, you might also want to check another forum, since this one is more focused on the formalities of moving abroad.

Cheers,

Cheryl

Hi,  All imported seeds are irradiated, so I assume that you've done your homework around all the plants being available locally?

Chaya very rarely produces seeds and is therefore grown by propagation.  Cuttings don't appear to be that easy to find.

We used to buy seeds and cuttings from Aberdare Technologies Limited, Thika (+254 725 861444).  I assume that they are still operating.  They may be able to assist you.
