My husband cant find any documentation with his NIF number. Any idea how to find this out from the UK?

First of all, what is your husband's nationality and for what purpose does he need his NIF number?

Second, don't try to find his document of Declaration of NIF. Instead, look through all other official documents, registrations, auto insurance, property deeds, tax filings or past contracts he may have had in CV. It is customary that the NIF is stated in such other documents.

If all of that fails, he will have to provide someone in Cape Verde with a procuração (power of attorney) plus a copy of his ID. That person will be able to get another declaration of his NIF.

Finally, please remind your husband that his NIF is a vital number that is needed for all government business that he conducts in CV. He should take a picture of the document and save it to the cloud. The number itself could be saved as a phone contact for rapid recall whenever he needs to supply it. The NIF is unique to him and applies to him for life.

I don't need your NIF number; you need it! Without a NIF you cannot do anything in Cape Verde. It is your government tax ID number which you will need for conducting any official business.

Hello.

How can I cancel my NIF? I wanted to buy an apartment in Cabo Verde, but the transaction fell through. I set up the NIF through a power of attorney given to a Cabo Verdean citizen.
