Is it possible to make it work that you can see who was visiting your profile?

That's a good question.  I don't really see the point, but on other sites it shows you who showed up.

Primadonna

Maybe I can see a reply from the team about this subject?

Thanks in advance.

ECS

what would be the point in seeing this? I can (maybe) understand on a dating site where you want to see if people you're interested in are interested in you. This isn't a dating site so what would you do with the information?

Primadonna

I would like to know on what base people contact me by sending a contact request.
Most of the time are men who never send any posts (but are for a long time member) on this forum or just joined in and they ask silly questions. Then I wander if they visit my profile or not.
Apparently they don't.
I am not intersted in such "request"

Do you know what I mean?

ECS

given that the "add contact" button is only available on your profile, it's safe to assume that they have visited it :)

I get this kind of contact request all the time and I just ignore them. If someone isn't going to write to me with a reason why they want to be my contact, or have absolutely no forum activity, they aren't worth my time.

Then there are the people who contact-request me and I suspect it is pretty much only because I am female and live in scandinavia.

Primadonna

You are right, this is what I do as well but still.

Anyway, thanks for your respons and it seems that my suggestion is not a good one to work it out.

By the way: I didn't know till now that you are a girl, I always thought you are a man :lol::lol:

It has something to do with you profile photo.

Hi Primadonna,

I also receive a lot of request or pms, from new members, with 0 messages and no explanation on their profile... and well, I just ignore them. But I am sure we could make this more relevant.

Note we've removed the small envelops below avatars on the forum ... hopefully it will reduce the number of PMs and increase the number of posts on the forum ?

Please also note you can be found on the network

I wonder if we shouldn't allow people to send contact requests until their profile is "complete" (we'll have to determine what makes a profile "complete") ... we may try and see how it goes ...

Talking about avatars Primadonna, may I ask you what yours represents ? (sorry for asking, I never understood)

Well, a "girl" in the fourties who is married and have three kids is not exactly attractive to yong men who are looking for a girlfriend. And if they read my profile then they don't send a request.
If I'm attractive or not, only I know this and to avoid as much as possible unwanted pm, I don't use my own picture.

Yes, I notice that the envelops are disappeared and I think it will make a huge different if members can send requests when their profile is completed.

And I don't mind if you ask about my avatar: it represents a black iris which is the national flower of Jordan.

HaileyinHongKong

I thought it was a black iris.  Yay, me.

I just assume that no one looks at profiles.  I always get PMs from people asking me where I live.  I guess they don't look at names either.

Forcing people to do their own profile before they can send PMs isn't going to make them read the profile of the person they're PMing.

Primadonna

It is more about request to be an contact, but you can force them to post some several subjects or replies before you give them this "privilege".
At least you will know something more about them then when they never post.

HaileyinHongKong

True enough.  I think profiles are a good thing.

But it's just as easy to ignore contact requests.

Primadonna

Or accept them...

I hope in Profile Privacy I can chose whom I wanted to view my profile either friends or to those who are not yet registered. :)

Primadonna

That's a good one JasfurJQ!
