Kenya star singer and media personality Anto Neosoul, performs for the first time in Mauritius. His music genre transcends Africa and blends many influences from Britain and America, as well as South African soulfoul singer. His sound is a mix of pop, jazz, soul and R&B, which in many ways blends perfectly with The Clarisse Sisters' influences. However, like our island unique Trio, Anto Nesoul will mesmerize you with his vocal abilities. Come and discover “Out of Africa”, a joint concert where Kenya meets Mauritius, to take you on a spectacular musical journey.

1985 is the year when the Sydney Pollack spectacular movie set in Kenya, won the Oscar for Best Picture at the Academy Awards. The film score, by legendary British composer John Barry (yes, same as the James Bond themes), gave the love story between Meryl Streep and Robert Redford another dimension. On top of the historical legacy of Karen von Blixen, that inspired the script, the visuals have forever entrenched the majestic beauty of the African open spaces in the mind of millions around the World.

The Clarisse Sisters are therefore very happy to introduce Nairobi born singer, Anto Neosoul, to Mauritius, for a joint concert that will capture the essence of the black continent's beauty. Great rhythms, inspiring songs, soulful duets… This show will be a unique opportunity for the Mauritian audience to enjoy a musical and visual journey, like no other. Indeed, in Mauritius, a concert 100% in English, with music inspired by American Soul (Erykah Badu, Motown) and Jazz, or British Sophisti-pop (Sade, Basia) does not happen very often.

So, if lyrics like “I guess the rain is down in Africa…” remind you of unforgettable tunes from the Golden Era of Music (1965-1995)*, then this concert should not be missed. Besides the best tracks from The Clarisse Sisters and Anto Neosoul, some shared on stage as duets, you will be treated to 4 iconic covers about Africa and other surprises. Two by star South African singer LIRA and one by “Mama Africa” herself, Myriam Makeba!

Anto Neosoul has a 5 octaves vocal range and his music goes beyond Africa, with strong Western influences. The Clarisse Sisters are similarly minded, with a music heritage that blends the best music from both sides of the Atlantic.

This concert will be on Friday 26th May at the Caudan Arts Centre, in the capital, Port Louis. Parking is available. Remaining tickets are available from the CAC Website only

It is the first time that a leading Kenyan artist performs in Mauritius. So, let us all welcome him in style, so that more talent from our neighbouring continent can grace our main stage at CAC in the coming years! See you there for a glorious evening…
