Shall we bring sleeping bags to Mauritius?

Hello there, I hope some of the readers can help me out.
My husband and I will finally move to Mauritius, and I was wondering if, among the few things we'll bring, I can bring our sleeping bags (with or without the tent).
We love to spend a night à la belle étoile every now and then (in the snow, in the rain, in summer, in winter) and I was wondering if it's safe at all to do it there.
We love nature and are very respectful, ideally we would hike to a secluded place and when it turns dark we'd take out the sleeping bags, fall asleep gazing at the sky and then, early in the morning we would hike back.
Is it safe to do it there? Are there many people doing it? Are there nocturnal predators we should be aware of?
