MOVISTAR PAYG

Post new topic

amber9776

I have a Movistar PAYG. Dispite making and receiving no calls or SMS my credit occasionally reduces. I have ‘MOBILE DATA SWITCHED OFF’. What is going on? Yesterday I topped up directly with Movistar €10 the next day down to €6 where has €4 gone?

I cannot get any advice from Movistar because no technical help provided to PAYG customers.

Hi Amber,

It must be very frustrating!

Don't they have customer service at all ... even if it's in spanish ?

Yes it’s driving me nuts. There seems to be no support at all for Pay As You Go ‘’PAYG’’ in any language. I’ve goggled this problem and I’m not the only one who is having this problem. It’s like having a pick pocket thieving out of your purse.

Let’s hope a forum member maybe able to advise. Live in hope.

Yes I thought it might come to that. I am frightened of moving from the frying pan into the fire.
All I want is basic pay as you go, talk and text with very little usage. Really it’s just an emergency device. I am not one of those with a Smartphone walking round all day with it glued to their ear. I don’t even know what a GB and 5G are.

Well if you want to keep the same number and transfer it to a new provider you can.

You might want to consider something like Lobster > https://www.lobster.es

Just checked my credit on Movistar and guess what ‘’it’s taken another €4 for nothing’’.
Seems Movistar has put me on ‘’Tipo Prepago Unica 24 h’’ whatever that is and without saying anything.

Tipo Prepago Unica 24 h / Single Prepaid Type 24 hours

Sorry no idea

Looking at Lobster prices, it seems to be a better service and get unlimited calls to Spain and a number of other countries. Plus you can talk to someone in English.

@SimCityAT

Thanks SimCity

What prices? Is Lobster a mobile telecom network like Movistar, Vodafone and Orange, or is it just a shop in Quesada selling plans on best commission?

Yes its a mobile phone company, you get unlimited Calls and SMS (text messages) to Numbers in Spain. As you don't bother with smartphones, you will just need the basic plan which is €6 every 28 days.

You need to call 1661 0r  0711 000 711
Monday to Saturday from 09:00 to 21:00

They give you the option for everything in English too. Bills, websites, customer service. You can even chat to them in English.

@SimCityAT

Thank you so much SimCity for your time and help.

I have looked at Lobster and can see they offer a ‘’SMALL BUT SWEET’’ plan for €6 but that’s only the first 3 payments (every 28 days), it then goes up double to €12 and it’s on the Movistar network. Am I looking at the right plan.

I suppose all good things change, I use to just have a simple PAYG Movistar, made about 1 call a month, €5 lasted about 6 months until expiry date, then just top up again, which was great until Movistar started thieving credit for non use. It would be interesting to know what a poor Spanish national person uses.
SimCityAT
Ah yes, so it will be €12 after the first 3 months. Yes it does use the Movistar network but is a separate company
amber9776
@SimCityAT

Hello SimCity thanks for the information.

Ah so Lobster does not have it’s own network, it’s just an independent broker selling deals, plans with short term contracts for various networks.

Maybe the term Pay As You Go ‘’PAYG’’ is not quite the same anymore where you put monetary €s credit on your phone, then use it as you like to make calls, no commitment to usage or spend. Now they seem to want to sell you a plan (€12 per 28 days) but with a monthly renewable contract. Not really true PAYG is it?

Its kind of is, because you can cancel at any time, it is not a binding contract.

Lots of smaller companies do this a use major networks. I would give them call in the morning and ask them all the questions you have.

They also off a plan for unlimited calls just for Spain, €5 for the first 3 months then it goes up to €10 a month.
amber9776
@SimCityAT

Thank you SimCity, I will go first thing in the morning, is Lobster the shop in Quesada next to everything for a € shop? I will ask them why you pay double after 3 months.

Hope I don’t get a pull in the car with invalid UK licence, Hugh Elliot Brit Ambassador said sorted by end of July, but not which year.

I am also going to write to José María Álvarez Pallete López, Chief Executive Officer of Telefónica and ask him why no service for PAYG customers and why they are thieving paid credit from customers. I don’t mind giving them a few €s if they are skint but they should ask.
amber9776

Went to Lobster and they had ''Our fantastic plans!''  only 10 euro a month to speak to no one and no SMS sent.
