Will be staying in Valencia for about 6 months and both my husband and I work from home (are able to work remotely) and use a lot of data. We were in Spain last year, but only one of us was working. Our apartment had Telefonica DSL (not sure of the plan) but it would not be sufficient for our current needs. Any suggestions on which internet service offers best speed/bandwith??

Hello!
Currently in Spain we have more or less good ADSL broadband, and now we have two companies offering up to 100 Mb using Fiber Optic.
Those are ONO and Movistar. Not everywhere, but in many places in Valencia you can have 50 Mbps.
If you only need 10 Mb, 20 Mb, you can go almost anywhere that you can have it. Only need to see the internet companies to see what they offer and what you want to pay.
