Questions about Moving to Albania

Hi everyone –

I am currently in Vietnam and am considering the possibility of moving to Albania between the beginning of August and the end of October. So, it would be great if people could help me confirm or clarify (true or false) the following points I've picked up from my research. Thanks in advance for any feedback/comments.

1) Traveling to Albania is no problem. Quarantine is NOT required.

2) Americans automatically receive permission to stay one year upon arrival.

3) The cost of living is quite low. It's easy to find a decent one-bedroom rental apartment in Saranda
for around US$300.

4) Saranda is the best place to live in Albania.

5) Albania's internet speed is quite good.

6) Albania is safe and relatively clean.

In addition, I have a couple of questions:

1) Can a visitor to Albania open a bank account?

2) Are electric bikes widely available in Albania?

Thanks again.   :top:

Hi,
Saranda is very beautiful, and it has various surroundings that are amazing.
It is a little expensive but it's marvelous.
There is no problem to find electric bikes. You have to ask in the bank if you can open an account, I don't really know this.

Thanks much for your reply.  Great to know there are electric bikes.

When you say that Saranda is a little expensive, is that in terms of rent? Is the city's popularity driving up the cost of apartments?

Thanks again.  :top:

Hi John,

Not only the rent is expensive but also the food and other prices are more expensive than in Tirana for example. Saranda is a touristic city and has higher prices for everything. I have to spare money the whole year to do holidays in Saranda.

Well, that makes sense as it is a very popular destination.

How about other coastal towns such as Durres, Vlore and Ksamil, etc.?

A 1 bedroom for $300? Why would you want to pay so much for so little?
