How much does it cost to rent an apartment or a house in Canada?

Saying Canada is broad and a rent can vary by a significant amount from downtown to suburb.

EI: for a 3½ ( Bedroom, living room, kitchen and a bathroom ) in Montreal downtown can vary between 800 to 1400 depending on the building you pick and it could go very much higher.
15 min from downtown you can find something decent between 750 and 950
45 min from downtown 600 to 800
Toronto and Vancouver you need to add 400$ about if not more.

How much does it cost to buy an apartment or a house in Canada?
Same thing it varies: EI Montreal downtown a 3½ can cost around 300K, 15 min away it could go to 220K

How much do you pay on average for public transportation (bus, subway, train, tram, taxi)?
Bus: 3.25 a fare, monthly bus and subway: 80$, no tram and Uber is 15 dollars for a 20 min drive, taxi a few dollars more.
Regular car gas avg: 1.22

How much do you pay for basic food items such as rice, bread, and pasta?

For food check out these grocery stores online, you'll find all Price. Maxi, Provigo, Metro, Adonis and Costco.


What is your monthly budget for groceries?
1 person: 500$

How much does it cost to see a doctor/dentist/physician/specialist in Canada? 
Most of the cases doctors are free because we are covered, dentist cost 150/200 an extraction, if you are covered by your work insurance you pay only 20 to 25 percent.

How much do you pay for health insurance per month?
Employer pays for the private one, the public health insurance is free for residents or citizens.

How much does childcare cost on average per month?

7$ a day about. Na

What is your child's schooling budget per month? NA

How much does it cost to fill up your car’s fuel tank?
160/ month

How much do you pay for electricity/gas/water etc., per month?

Electricity including hot water: 60 per two months
Cold water is free
Heating 60 per month during winter.


How much do you pay for your internet and phone subscription?
Internet: 55 and phone 65
How much do you pay for your lunch pack on weekdays?
Per week: 50

How much do you pay for an espresso coffee?
1.20 Tim Hortons coffee


How much do you pay for a cinema ticket?
5 on Wednesday and 15 avg other days

How much does a gym membership cost in Canada?
From 12 to 60 per month depending on the gym.

The above are not set in stone and can vary by person's habits and areas, most of the prices given are for Montreal, Quebec.
