Hello,
I'am a single army veteran planning on moving to DR in 6 months. I have a monthly budget of $2900 usd. I have been to Punta Cana and Santo Domingo already, I would like to know which part of the island would be best for me? I'd prefer living near a beach or diverse city with expats but not many tourists. I'm looking for a 2 br 2 ba secured apartment around $600-$700 monthly rent.

I love the North shore. Moved to the Sosua/Cabarate area in 2002. Maybe too many tourists for you.Cabrera is a great town,less tourists. I suggest that you visit & spend enough time learning the area. You will be surprised about how diverse the geography & people are. Many quiet areas close enough for a varied social life. Your budget will be fine since you are sngle. Come & see us. It is the only way to know what suits you best. Too many beaches to count. Welcome!
