Staying as a tourist after student visa expires

Hi all, I was hoping someone could help with my question. I am travelling to Brazil in January ‘18 on a 1-year student visa, but hope to stay until the end of Feb ‘19. Can I change from a student visa to a tourist visa for the ~40 days I need to overstay? I’ve tried to research and can’t seem to find what I’m looking for!

Loolyjulie,

You will have to apply for it before the student visa expires. I heard you can do it in Brazil now at PF. I have been trying to find it. Many things are changing so I'm not sure now.
