What phone service/plan have you found to make affordable calls to USA....need to keep in touch with my son!

Skype works for a monthly plan or pay as you go.
Google hangouts does free calls to most US landlines - never tried a mobile so no idea but it's free so give it a blast.

Thanks Fred...I'm aware of Skype as an alternative...wondering if there is a cell phone service in Portugal that would allow affordable calls back and forth to US. I currently have Verizon but it only offers reduced options for incoming US to Portugal to a landline.
