Just want to know what the medical aid schemes are in Mauritius and if there are any recommendations?

Mauritius has

1) a public free healthcare system for its citizens

2) private hospitals and institutions

3) smaller private practices both for general medicine and specialized fields

4) Alternative medicine like Ayurveda and Chinese traditional medicine...

Hard to recommend a particular one...many parameters at play here...your budget, type of treatment, insurance cover, urgency and whether you are a citizen or an expat...

Get hold of swan and they will send you through many options. I have just got a plan for me snd my family through them and it was very reasonable and they were a great help.

Swan or Mauritius Union are two well known and solid insurance companies that provide Medical Insurance in Mauritius.

I recommend that you get copies of the policy documents before signing on the dotted line!
