Hi, am moving to work on Gib shortly from UK, I also have a property in Spain, I ma thinking of bringing a car over , how does that work regarding documentation needed for using  UK registered car in Gib? any ideas?
Thanks

Hello - By coincidence having decided to bring our UK car over to Gib we arrived last week-end via Bilbao.
Your situation is probably different from mine. I can't cover all the possibilities as much will depend on your status here, whether you live in Gib or Spain and if you want to drive in Spain. But take care and do the research as it pertains to you. For us, we found that our UK insurance policy has Gibraltar as one of the named territories along with the UK mainland. The policy also allows us to be away from home in Europe for up to 360 days. I also have one year breakdown cover in case of need. We are driving here on this basis. The drawback is that at the end of the year we will have to decide what to do as regards registration. Register here or take it back to the UK. In short it's piece of cake driving on this basis. If you intend to be here a long time, you may wish to consider buying a car here or in Spain - where ever it is best for you. But we hear of a lot of GBZ cars being damaged whilst in Spain. Those with plain GB signs apparently have less problems. Does this help? If you want to e-mail me privately with more details I will try to be more specific or link you up with the local Citizens' Advice Bureau. GibLover.
P.S. The drive from Bilbao is very easy. The roads were terrific.

Thanks for that, will check my insurance here. I intend to drive over at some stage, reassuring you found it so easy

Hi. I saw the posts from Giblover re insurance etc. I'm thinking of moving to Gib from Irealnd this year. I would love to hear from you on lefe in Gib. Would you recommend it? Whats the situation workwise? Did you have a job lined up? I'm a Solicitor in Ireland but I expect I may have to try other related areas for work in Gib. Look forward to hearing from you.

Like everywhere else Gibraltar is feeling the downturn - but less so that most other places, I think. Construction - mainly residential - is continuing and it will be interesting to see what happens as the many flats in construction are completed and if those who bought off-plan are able to complete. The legal bit first: There are numerous firms here mainly dealing with tax, trusts, pensions, conveyancing and similar. If that is your specialism you may wish to put your CV about. A web search will give you a list of local firms. Otherwise there are jobs in the service industry with commensurate pay. Cost of living is not low however. Many live in Spain and come over for work each day. As my tag GibLover implies I love this place. It's not perfect - where is? - but it is better than most other places I know. It is now nearly 8.00 on this Good Friday evening and the sun is pouring across my balcony. Love it! - But don't tell many others!!

I used to live in Gib when i was a teenager and it was the happiest time of my life, being a forces child you got used to moving around, my parents have since split and both have remarried. My mum is still living in Gib and i want to rejoin her as i miss her so much plus i think my boys will benefit from this move. I need to know roughly how much it will cost 4 a 3 bed place within main street area, and also i am level 2 qualified in childcare and will also be looking for a job in this field.
If anyone can help please get in touch.
Thankyou.

Hola! I've arrived in Gibraltar.
At a rather break neck speed, my hubbie got offered a great job and with no good news back in Ireland we jumped ship.
So what I want to know is - baby stuff, well toddlers really.
I need a mum & toddler group - anyone out there need one too?

Rock of Gibraltar is fantastic!

There's only one word to describe the life in Gibraltar:CAREFREE!
I love living here, after years of struggling in dark, I made the right choice and came here.
