Hi There,

I have been offered a 5 month contract in Jeddah and would like to work one week there and the other week back in Ireland, what visa would I need to allow me to do this?  Is it easy to get in and out of SA on a weekly basis like this?

Accomodation - what is hotel living like in Jeddah?

Thanks.

Hi, to legally work in the KSA you would need a work visa which has to be then converted into the residency / work permission (Iqama). However once you would like to go back to Ireland your sponsor (employer) would have to arrange an exit / re-entry visa (piece of paper attached to your passport) for you as this is the only way to leave the Kingdom. Such visa can be arranged very quickly (1-2 days) by your sponsor and it's valid up to 6 months.
There is also another solution - to apply for a multiply entry business visit visa (valid usually 3 or 6 months with unlimited exits and entries). In this case there is no need to apply for any additional exit / re-entry visa. However business visit visa do not allow a holder to legally work in the KSA. This type of visa limits the business activities to attending the meetings, conferences, trainings, exhibitions and other things related to the business. In actual fact many expatriates work in the Kingdom based on business visit visa.
Most of the formalities related to above visas has to be arranged directly by your sponsor.
Of course you have to confirm with your company all of the  conditions of your employment as well as scope of your duties. Based on that you can decide what is the most appropriate solution for you.
Good luck with the arrangements!

I think multiple entry business visit visa will do for you. By doing so you will have some problems with getting your own car or even renting a car as you would need an Iqama for any of these arrangements. But you can drive a car if you have an international driving license.

good luck

Can someone tell me how long exactly the driving time is from Qatar to Al Khobar and also what to expect at the border. Is it a case of stripping the car to search? I am a expat female travelling with my husband and a driver. Thanks
