Looking for Public Primary School in Gent that teach Islamic

Does anyone here know concerning this matter...?

Is there a public primary school in Gent that teach Islamic ?

Many thanks

Religious education is obligatory for 2 periods per week in schools from age 6 to age 18.
Public schools here are either religious aligned (mainly Catholic, but a handful of Jewish, protestant Islamic, maybe 10 in Belgium Flemish) or non religious aligned. Religious aligned only teach that religion for the 2 periods per week. Non religious aligned make up about 50% of public schools, in all of them, if there is not an Islamic teacher already teaching those 2 period per week, you can request one but it can only be a qualified teacher. So just look for the non religious aligned schools - they are often called "koninklijk atheneum XXXX" or "GBS" or "gemeente XXXX".

Thank you.. for your answer..

Try to find out if the local mosque or the Islamic community organise classes for that purpose.

Hello Kania, السلام عليكم

A pure madrasa, you will only find one in Brussels http://www.po-ecib.be/alghazali/

In all other cases, you will have to put your children in public schools for them to follow the Islamic religion classes. They will have the same treatment as the children of other religions, that is to say a course of one/two hours a week. The rest of the course will be common and will follow the belgian education program.

We need you to take into account the operating mode of Belgium and Belgian citizens. Indeed in this country, we believe that religion is a family affair and has nothing to do with general education given by school.

waalaikumsalam, thanks for your answer.  :)
