Making phone calls in the Virgin Islands

Hi,

When settling in the Virgin Islands, one of the priorities is to be able to make phone calls.

How to proceed to get a landline installed in the Virgin Islands?

What are the mobile operators?

What is your average monthly budget?

Thank you in advance for sharing your experience,

Maximilien

How to proceed to get a landline installed in the Virgin Islands?

In the Virgin Islands there aren't many places to get a landline, almost everyone has a landline ( some people don't use them anymore, relying instead on mobile phone only) from Innovative VI.  I'm unsure about the process of getting a landline since we've had ours since my paternal grandmother established it back in the 1960s but I believe you would have to go to the Innovative building and ask about installing a new landline.

What are the mobile operators?

Most used operators are Virgin Mobile USA, Sprint and AT&T, some lesser used operators include Innovative, Choice, Tracfone, and depending on the Island T-Mobile (St. Thomas; no service in St.Croix)

What is your average monthly budget?

Monthly average depends on the individual, my monthly average with Virgin Mobile USA was 35 USD and with AT&T prepaid was 45 USD. Some postpaid plans I have seen run to 150 USD.
