I'm about to get an L-1A work visa and will be moving to LA soon!

Am very excited but am aware that my first 2 challenges are house and car. My company is going to put me up in a temporary apartment to start with, but I know I'll need a car.

1) Does anyone know a good company for long term rentals? I know you can go to Hertz, but $1200 a month for a car seems a lot to me.

2) For the apartment will we be able to rent somewhere without a credit history and if so where should we look?

Best,

K

You can rent a car for a few days, and look to buy a car during that time (craigslist, cars, autotrader, etc.)
You can also find rental apartments on craigslist and local classifieds.

Can I buy a car without a CA license?

Probably not, but please check with Department of Motor Vehicles in CA.
If you already have a UK drivers license then it shouldn't be a problem to get one in California, in the meantime use the rental, until you get a California license and find a car to buy.
