Hello again, I've been told I'll be living in an apartment in Hay Al Dimasc, but I can't find that on any maps. How far from the centre is it, and what kind of an area is it? I'm not concerned about it at all, just curious. I can't work out how to spell "hay" in Arabic (which h is it?) so am struggling to look it up - can anyone link me to any photos of the area? A Wikipedia article? Thanks.

Hay Demascus in Arabic is spelled:
حي دمشق

I have lived there in a small villa for six months and it is a nice locality. As Moel has given you the link to the map I wont repeat that, but it is about 15-20 minutes drive from the center depending on the traffic, the new five star hotel "Rixos"is there. I found my neighbors to be mostly educated nice people but my landlady, that was another story.
