My sister was living with her family in Muscat for the past 4 years. Her husband is doing business there now she wants to leave the country and come back to India but for some financial reason she and her 19 year old son did not renew their labour card for the past 10 months . Will there be a problem travelling out of the county? Can she and her son travel back to India without renewing the labour card? Someone please advice. Does she need to cancel her visa before this ? As she is on her husbands sponsor visa.

Hi Sharonthomas,

So your sister and her adult son (who must now be on his own visa) have been living in Oman without valid papers. In other words they are living as illegal residents.

And yes, there will be problems when they try to exit the country through proper means. Obviously.

No, they cannot leave the country without paying whatever fines are levied on them for their illegal stay.

All your queries are sounding very naive - or is it ignorance ? At least your sister's husbands who is a businessman here should have known the laws of the land better.

In case you don't know, going against the law is a crime in any country. And crimes, if caught, are punishable.
