If you are planning on purchasing jewelery and precious metals to take them out of the country, be prepared to pay heavy taxes and face lots of questions from the government. There are strict laws here regarding the transfer of capital and valuables out of the country.

Thanks for the response. My intention was just to purchase some gift items for my wife so that she can use it daily. Apart from that I don't have any intentions of purchasing precious metals available in Brazil and exporting the stuff.
