Loan for students

May_nila

Hello everyone,
How difficult is it for a EU citizen, planning to study in London, to obtain a loan ?
It is mainly to cover the maintenance costs as the tuition fee is covered by NHS.
Applications should be send to the government ? Banks (and which one would you advise) ?
Is the "student loan company" something different ?

Thank you for your help !

Hello May_nila
It depends on how long have you been in the country. In general an EU citizen can only apply for tuition fee. however; if  you have been more than 3 years here prior starting your Higher Educational Course, then you can apply for further support such as the loan for maintenance loan from the Student Loan Company England.

Even though, I said, you should have been in the country for 3 or more years, I (Hungarian) was only here for 2 years here prior starting my university course and was still qualified for the maintenance loan. - No idea how.

Worth a shot ... try to apply. Do not under any circumstances take out loans from banks!!! It will cost you a fortune.

Hope this helped.
