South AFricans moving to Saudi Arabia

Hi all my husband accepted a position at Saudi Sicli, starting 01 March 2014.  I have never been overseas, but after 3 months I will be joinging him.  I would like to hear from other expats how life is in Saudi Arabia, believe we are going to stay in a compound in Jeddah, don't know the name of the compound right now, but believe it will be one of Saudi Sicli`s compounds, how is life in the compounds?  is there shops, restaurants, swimmingpool and a gym?  Also, how does the compounds look on the inside?  is it clean and neat?  I look forward to this move a lot but I am scared as well.  Please give as much info especially on Jeddah and Thuwal as possible?   Have a lovely day all!
