I am newly retired in Oaxaca, Mexico after spending much time here and getting my feet firmly planted on the ground.  I've been to many places in the world, but Oaxaca is among the most beautiful and culturally rich places I have ever been.  I am a crafts person, needle felting mostly, and I make pieces every day to sell on Etsy.com to supplement my retirement income.  The history and archeology of Oaxaca and Mexico are of special interest to me, and right now I am reading extensively.  I started a knitting circle to make warm hats to take up to pueblos in the mountains -- not only the hats, but the looms and a supply of yarn as well, to teach the women and teenagers of the village how to make their own hats.  My goal here is to keep little heads warm on those freezing nights in the high elevations.  I like meeting new people online, or in person.  You can see my blog here:

I am about to fly in San Miguel in a few days and I was wondering what kind of clothes, shoes,jackets, etc. to pack....
