commuting between Bahrain and Khobar

Post new topic

Hi,

I've been for a while in Khobar and decided to move to Bahrain and live there while keep working in Khobar. I already found an apartment in Manama, and will move in in 2 weeks.
Qs:

1. Is there a way of saving on bridge toll... 4BD each day piles up, is there a monthly ticket, or similar? And if yes, where do I get it?
2. On similar topic, there is an insurance fee every time I go to Bahrain of 2.5BD. Is there some kind of permanent charge, not daily charge? Also, how to get it.
3. I work from 9 to 6, how much time should I leave for traveling at those times (concerned on que at border)
4. Is there anything else I should be concerned, know about it...

now few Bahrain only related questions:

is there any roads where one can bike (bicycle)?
Is there a bicycle or triathlon club in Bahrain?
Any other expats sports organized (football, softball...)?

Thank you very much.

Hi Flying Circus,

I will only answers your questions regarding Bahrain as I have no idea on the rest..

No, there is no special lane in roads for bicycles users.. I go cycling around my area and it's fine for me.
Well, lots of sports events are taking place in Bahrain, u just have to look and check the local newspapers.. We are participating in one next month.. (but that's for corporates, but public are welcome to attend)
No, there is no such clubs for bicycles user, unfortunately.

I really hope it works just fine for you. More questions, hit me with it.
Cheers,
Lulu

Hi Flying Circus,

For the insurance, you have option to choose. If you want monthly you visit to the left most counter (while going to bahrain) and can get insured for a month.

Regarding Bridge toll, Sorry you dont have any other option.

About the timing, it will take around 45mins to process the formalities provided no much queue.

About the last point, keep the change 2 bd for the toll always will save some time for you and your follower.

The 2BD can no longer be given in coins, it has to be in notes, just so you are aware
