Is it advisable for a single mum of 2 kids to move to Oman?

Assalamu Alaikum/Hi everyone,

I am a single mother of two kids, ages 9 and 3 years old. I am interested in working and moving to Oman. I have so many questions though.

Will there be issues for me to do this considering that I am no longer married and wanting to move with my two kids?

Is there after care available at the schools or would I need to hire a nanny?

Are nannies expensive?

I have an HR degree and experience in HR as well as other fields but am looking at teaching in order to have the school break with kids. I have a TEFL certificate as well. Do TEFL teachers earn a worthwhile salary in order to have a comfortable life there with my kids?

I am looking forward to hear from whoever has advice and input regarding the above 1f60a.svg

Dear Madam,

Greetings!!

It is not sure you have already having a job offer, also not clear you are from which Country.

Please find the answer to the question:

As long as your child's name is endorsed in the passport, there wont be any issue.

Usually, there is no after care available at School.  I would be better for hiring a nanny.

Are nannies expensive?

It depends on your salary.  If you have good salary you will get Nannies.  But not easily available

@aasishv HI there, Thank you for the information and response. I am from South Africa. I don't have a job offer as yet but am looking and applying.

Even if I have the job offer, I won't make the move with the uncertainty of who will be with my kids after school while I am at work. That is why I need clarity on this.

Also, if I were to have 100% remote job, will it still be possible to apply for a working visa to enter Oman?

I am looking at all possibilities.

What would be a good salary to earn for a family of 3 to live comfortably?

Answer to your question,

The maid is not easily available in Oman.  Even, if it is available, they won't be regulars.  That means you will always have challenges, as they may not come in between.

No.  If you apply for a work visa, you should be in Oman.  If you are not in Oman for 6 months, the Visa validity will expire.

For Salary and cost of living, please do research on the internet.  According to me comfortable should be 750 to 1000 OMR.

Hi Shehaamsamodien,

I'm just curious to know if you managed to go to Oman .. as I am also a single mother of two children opting to move to Oman.

Please, if you have gone ,do tell about your challenges.

HR positions are only for Omanis. To be a teacher a bachelor in education is mandatory, not matter how many years of experience.
