speaking lawyers or services for foreigners.

If you googled expat lawyers, what's wrong with the hits you got?

Thank you. I called and talked to a gentleman named

David and had a good conversation as he was very

knowledgeable.

-@Leeds forever!

None of the hits specifically said Expat. I called two of the hits

and they didn't have any expats on staff.

@scbrock why should a foreign lawyer with foreign name and diploma write that is an expat like someone coming here just to spend some part of his life ??

A lawyer is an official recognised registered business operator, with a work visa and a work permit and cannot be an expat that have other kind of stay permit not allowed even to work in Thailand legally.

Maybe he could write outside that he can provide consulting for expats....!!

Anyway, if you are in Phuket already you can see many lawyer's offices just walking or driving arround your area and enter to talk directly...

Expat lawyers in Thailand. Good luck.

Since 35 years have been using two of them and it was not helpful at all.

Actually these expats use local lawyers (Thai) to support them. So if fact your bill is higher.

Since 20 years, have been using local lawyers and I am very satisfied.

However it is a long process to find the competent one.

They normally don't have expats on their payroll. Most well known visa agents have an expat as an owner or manager and then they have Thai people working for them doing the legwork.

I don't think there are any foreigners working as expat lawyers in Thailand. Are they even officially allowed to work in Thailand?  May I ask why you need a lawyer? Is it because of the house you were interested in buying?

That is part of the problem I have ran into finding one that is competent.

I have talked to 3 Thai lawyers and none of them could answer fully

questions that I had. The one expat lawyer I spoke with was the only

one that I could fully understand and was easily the most knowledgeable.

I think Thai people are wonderful people but it is frustrating the lack of

any sense of urgency. I can wait day after day to hear back from them.

As of yesterday I heard there is a major change in Thai law concerning

foreigners using Thai company to acquire property. Just waiting to hear

back from a lawyer to confirm before posting.

Yes, because of the house/land I am interested in.

I suppose it doesn't have to be a lawyer it could be someone

who is familiar with the process of setting up a Thai company

as well as the annual report that is done. There is the due

diligence to consider. How to go about selling the property.

There are many parts to this thing.

It has been an education

This is mainly about Chinese companies buying real estate in Thailand using Thai nominees. There are no ongoing changes in Thai laws regarding this. Laws already exist.

If you're living in Thailand, start reading news in English, like for example 'The Nation Thailand' online. Listening to rumours won't do you any good.

I believe part of what you are saying is to support the local economy when

possible. And yes when they show that they can do the job as asked but so

far they haven't shown me. For example I was supposed to have an appointment

with a Thai lawyer today at 2pm. We made the appt a week ago and I asked her

3 times to send me a location for the meeting and she never responded. So, the

meet never happened.

Walking door to door to find a lawyer or service is an option
