If you are planning to settle and work in Sharm el-Sheikh, here is what you need to know about its labor market.

Located at the South end of the Sinai desert, at crossroads between the Red Sea and the Aqaba Gulf, Sharm el-Sheikh is a top destination in Egypt. In fact, it is not only a tourist and port city but also a real job pool for foreign professionals who are looking forward to settle and work in the country.

Sharm el-Sheikh is a famous tourist resort, especially due to its key role in the Egyptian history. It also attracts importers and exporters in large numbers thanks to its strategic port. It also hosts an international airport as well as a port which connects it to Hurghada and Aqaba.

Good to know:

Sharm el Sheikh is a very accessible city thanks to its tarred roads. Moreover, different bus lines connects it to major cities such as Cairo, Dahab, Hurghada, and even to the Suez region for a few hours or a day's trip.

Economy

The city is an ancient port which used to make a massive contribution to the national economy. But since the 1990s, following reinforcement of environmental laws, merchant shipping has been greatly reduced.

To date, tourism is the city's major economic pillar, thanks to its dry climate and ideal conditions for diving and snorkeling, as well as the presence of the Ras Mohammed National Park, among others. Sharm el-Sheik also host many luxurious and semi-luxury hotels.

Find a job

Given the importance of tourism in Sharm el-Sheikh, expatriates are more likely to be hired in this particular field. So you can start by inquiring with hotels or other relating companies which might interest you. You can check out job vacancies on their respective websites or browse offers on general and specialized job websites. If you are already on the spot, consider browsing the local business directory.

In all cases, the best way to find a job according to your profile is to register with a recruitment agency. Indeed, these may help you find the ideal job as per your skills and those required by the local labor market, especially if you wish to work in other sectors than the tourism industry.
