Availability of prescriptions

You can search at several websites on-line for what's available, according to this Paraguay government page from the Ministry of Public Health and Social Welfare (Ministerio de Salud Pública y Bienestar Social):

Here is one of the sites the above mentions, where you may search for medications by name. You might need to enter the Spanish name although I successfully entered the English name for several medications. It will search on just part of a name and return results so if you enter, say, "stat" you will get all available "statin" medicines. I was able to get results entering just a first few letters of the medicines you mention:

@OsageArcher Thanks for the references. It looks like one of my thyroid meds is not available. I'll have to talk to my doctor about that.

One other thing. I currently do testosterone replacement therapy here in the US, working with a doctor who orders blood tests for me 3 times a year. Searching on the website you mentioned it appears that you can get testosterone in Paraguay. But is Paraguay like the US in that you need to show a prescription for everything? If so, is testosterone replacement therapy something that's considered legit by the doctors here?

Perhaps it would be best if I could just have a telemedicine consultation with a Paraguayan doctor. Any tips on how to find a Paraguayan doctor who does that would be much appreciated.

Such a thing is possible. Here are some links for pages that advertise Paraguayan doctors on-line. I don't know if it's possible to use the services from outside the country but you can try - and you can probably find some email addresses to enquire about it (sorry, I did not exhaustively investigate each site).

You may be able to find a doctor who can speak good English - but certainly it would be very helpful if your Spanish is at least at a conversational level.

And just so you know - Paraguay's time is now the same as the US Eastern time zone EDT, called PYT (UTC-4).
