urgent! i need rabies vaccine in Quito!

I was biten by a dog on my right ankle this noon and there was a little blood. Then the landlord took me first to a public hospital, in which the doctor refused to give me a rabies shot, saying the bite was insignificant. she just cleaned the wound. then we went to a private hospital but doctors there said only public hospitals had rabies vaccine.

But I am still worried and want to get a vaccine shot.

please tell me where in Quito I can get the vaccine.

I appreciate your help.

Jason,

The dog would need to be tested to see if it had rabies before any shots would be given to you.

Rabies vaccine consists of 4 shots given over two weeks.  Not something you would want to take unless you are sure that you have to.

Rabies is almost always fatal

once symptoms appear.

It likely takes one to three months

for symptoms to appear in a

human victim following the bite

of a rabid animal.
