Long term care insurance

We are investigating long term  care insurance with coverage in the US so as to not inconvenience family when the time comes.  We are bumping into an immediate 6 month residency requirement in order to issue a policy.  This is difficult sice we are already living full-time in Colombia.  Has anybody else navigated this?
