Is Naturalizar-se Brasileiro any different procedure. What are the requirements do you speak Portuguese fluently. I am permanent resident so is this the requirement first or is it being a relative of a Brazilian. Thank for your response

@NewBrazil Nope.. It's the same thing online MJSP site. You need to complete a Portuguese for foreigners course from a public university here in Brazil. It must be 200 or more hours of coursework with transcript given by the university itself. Make sure to confirm from the university that they give relevant documents and not online certification since PF won't accept it. If you have son or wife only 1-2 years of permanent residency is required, if not 4-5 years. Rest is same required documents and process. 😀

@John Medros.. If everything is good with your application, then the analyst of your case contact you for a formal interview and your approval will be published in DOU within a week. It's takes about 3-4 months after reaching MJSP

i applied it already one and half passed nobody visited or even i did not get any email from PF how long it takes first response from PF about naturalization request online did they visit your home if yes how long after you register for it please share your experience

@Nomad Mundo Thanks just 1 month now at MJSP will be waiting and hoping to have good news from them.

@ahmad raza57 it's take 6 month for them to call you for biometric if your document all are ok within  1 - 6 month you will received message from PF.

@ahmad raza57.. Don't worry... They would contact you within 180 days after the application. Keep logging in and check the application response tap.

@ahmad raza57 Yes..PF would certainly visit to confirm the information you provided in your application. They normally visit after 5pm.. Rest be assured that it's their duty as well to do it the right way.👍

it took how long with your case shifted from PF to MJSP?

@ahmad raza57.. The transfer process took just under ten months...Everything will work out if you just have patience. Note:-According to Law nº 12.008/09, priority will be given in all instances to processes whose applicants are 60 (sixty) years of age or older, or have a serious illness.

As I will be technically "retired" on paper with the RF I don't have to spend time and money to sit thru the language course.

My Naturalization was approve yesterday after 1 month at MJSP and the total process was just about 9 months. didn't have any PF visit my house just after  6 months in Analise PF  was ask for more documents and after i went for biometric and was sent to  MJSP which took 1month and few days.

going to do my RG and Electoral titular and was told above 40yrs you dont required military service.

Just wanted to give updates on my process everything went successful .

It has been a few years since I attempted to naturalise.  Seems the process has changed again.  Are you able to guide a little on the new process - seems a little easier now?

Yes @Afroprince everything now little more easier than way i thought before the Covid-19. Just only Portuguese Language Certificate and Aula Presencial   Mandatory and the rest document shouldn't be difficult to get and just upload it online and always try to be checking your email or login online to the Portal with gov.br access to be checking just incase necessary additional documents is need.  Aside this there's nothing special or difficult about apply for the Naturalization.

you can keep checking here twice in a week if could not everyday. once your process is in MJSP after 1 month keep checking everyday  under MIGRATÓRIOS  or with your name you will see there if it's been approved

@John Medros Thank you,  I applied for Provisional Citizenship for my Children, the applications progressed to the MJSP phase after 4 Months of being at the PF phase

Interesting that the law says your Portuguese language skills must be "equal to your life needs" more or less........implying that a person with passive income, and/or a retired status, or simply over 60, etc......needs nothing at all like is the case in many countries, or, has to be scored at a language level that is significantly different (lower) than from someone else, who is qualified to be employed as a medical person, or an engineer, for example.

I am fluent anyways, so, why would I need a 200 hour course ? Been told it's not applicable however, in a conversation that I had which took place in Portuguese with the PF. So, we'll see if I have to endure this as well when the time comes......heh.

My case was forwarded to MJSP in the beginning of december last year but so far although more than 3 months already passed there is no update on my case. there is no issue in the documentation or anyother kind of issues in my case. I  want to know how long it takes at the MJSP phase to finalize? is there any deadline or an estimated duration in which the case is finalized?

The timing sounds about right so far, if the home visit was completed in December.  If you're not doing it already, start checking the Diário Oficial da União every day for your name as it appeared on your naturalization petition and your CRNM number.  That was how I received the first notice that my naturalization had been approved:

The PF does house visits as part of the process?  How do you schedule this PF visit? Can they drop in unannounced or more importantly while you are out of the country as part of your ordinary schedule?

Just curious about that part of the process.... I am just used to the opposite - i.e. me visiting the authorities not the reverse.

The PF only makes home visits in naturalization cases, no longer in residence cases. 

For naturalization cases, they make a point of arriving unannounced;  part of the reason for the visit is to confirm residence .  If they miss the applicant, they'll generally return on another day,  also unannounced.   

When I was naturalized, we had just gone shopping when they arrived.  Fortunately, Brazil being Brazil, the officer was an old school friend of our porteiro, who vouched for me, so he left a message to say that I  was ok.

Strange that it took that long to forward the file to the Ministry of Justice but regardless,  the clock started in December as far as the Ministry is concerned.  I'd check the DOU back to July once or twice just in case something happened during that period, and then every day or two for the current week.

Welcome!

1 . If the PF visit goes well and they forward the file to Brasília for final review, they normally will not visit again.

2 . There is no formal interview after the Ministry of Justice approves the naturalization petition.  In fact, unless the proces has changed, there's not even any notification, aside from the indication in the Ministry system.  At that point it's up to the applicant to print out the Portaria that documents the approval from the Diário Oficial da União (https://www.in.gov.br/leiturajornal) and bring it to the Justiça Eleitoral to obtain the Título de Eleitor, to the Prefeitura to obtain their RG, and to the PF to obtain a passport.  A Certidão Positiva de Naturalização can be obtained here:  https://www.gov.br/pt-br/servicos/obter … uralizacao
