Will the PF hold onto a CRNM card for very long?

Hi all,

At the end of May, my spouse and I were in Brazil and completed the permanent resident process for my CRNM card. I was told the card would be ready for pick up from the PF location within 30-90 days.

We have since returned to the US and the card has apparently been ready for pick up since just a few days after our departure from Brazil, in early June  :o We don't plan to return to Brazil until the Christmas/New Year holidays. Does anyone have an idea of how long a PF facility will hold onto a CNRM card that is ready for pick up? This is the Niteroi location in Rio, if it makes any difference. This would be roughly 6 months since the card was ready before we could pick it up.

We have access to a Brazilian consulate here, but unfortunately, to do the "Reconhecimento de Firma" procedure at the local consulate (which would allow my family member to pick up the card in Rio), I would already need to have a copy of my CRNM card or a physical copy of my RNE card, which I do not have.

If you believe they would not hold on to the card, do you know what the next step /recommendation would be for us?

Thank you Expat community!

Hi!

I don't know how long the PF keeps the crnm, but I had someone else pick it up for me.

I went to a cartorio in Brazil and issued a letter of attorney using my passport and cpf before I left the country.
My partner picked up the card.

Are you sure the consulate can't issue you one? Maybe when you show them your protocolo?

For what it's worth the PF in SP held onto mine for close to two years back in 2014-2016. I would assume they hold onto it for at least one year.
