Renewing Consular visa

edrosamond

I have been living here for almost 11 months. I arrived in July on a consular visa (união estável) but registering with the federal police was delayed due to COVID-19.  My CRNM doesn't expire until  November. Do I need to renew the visa or just the CRNM. I can't find anything on the PF website with regards to visas but I find the website totally confusing.

edrosamond,

Your question is a little confusing, because if you were issued a CRNM - a plastic federal ID card with your picture on it - then the registration process was completed.
With a CRNM, you should just have to renew it; it would be smart to start the process at least a month before the expiration date.   Any questions that aren't answered on their website (which is a mess these days!), try giving them a call - they're usually pretty responsive on the phone.   As more people are vaccinated in your state and their office hours expand, checking at the Estrangeiros desk should resolve your doubts.

Yes I did complete the registration process. I am just confused as the  visa is for 1 year (although I don't know if that just means I could have entered at any time during the year).

If you got the blue plastic ID card, you should be fine. My VISA in my passport is long gone and not an issue mate.
